|TESTIMONIALS: Graduates of the program share their experience
« The yoga teacher training with Joan Hyman at Innercityoga Genève is a wonderful experience! I warmly recommend the training and the center.
The training was intensive, but in a good way.
The content of the course is very well structured, it really covers all the broader aspects of the philosophy of yoga. And Joan brings in, in a very intelligent manner and in her own way, the spiritual parts of yoga. There is a lot of self study, but I always felt confident to be provided with everything needed to achieve the training.
It was an amazing experience to practice so intensively, it is a real detox experience, but It felt so good at the end. I felt my body change, get stronger everyday, it is a real spiritual and mental shift!
The amount of information absorbed is amazing, but Joan leaves no student behind, she is rigorous, generous in the way she teaches. She is able to adapt to the level of each student. Joan were attentive to each student and to the physical and spiritual changes that were happening to each of us!
Definitely, the teacher training is a life changing experience!
I highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to teach, or deepen his yoga practice, or simply shift his perspectives!
Thank you all: Joan, Ioana, Patric for this wonderful experience, and for your engagement and generosity! »
« From the first moment, when I entered the INNERCITYOGA studio, I felt well and at the right place. I came to Geneva in order to take one class with studio founders Ioana and Patric Pop, thereby to evaluate my level of understanding of yoga, because I had the intention to graduate the 200h YTT.
During my Teacher Training in the summer and autumn 2015, this great feeling of being well supported by the whole INNERCITYOGA team, especially by the founders Ioana and Patric and by the assistant Charlotte, have been very motivating all the time.
All in all: a wonderful and great teacher - Joan Hyman, a warm welcome and excellent support by the INNERCITYOGA team and a top infrastructure as additional highlight. For my practice and life as Yogi and Yoga Teacher an inspiring and shining example.
Keep it, I'm sure you're on the right path. And... it will be with great pleasure that I will apply for the 300h Yoga Teacher Training at INNERCITYOGA. »
« Teacher training took my practice and interest in yoga to a new level! I recommend it to anyone who wants to deepen their understanding - even if you never envision teaching.
Yoga is a beautiful lifetime practice and teacher training is a great investment in one's self. The impact is profound. »
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
Q: How advanced in my yoga practice do I need to be to do this training?
A: All INNERCITYOGA® Teacher Training programs (200h foundational and 300h advanced Deep Flow Yoga) include an intensive two-hour asana practice.
We strongly recommend that applicants have at least two years of consistent asana practice (minimum three days a week), and bring an understanding of the main poses seen in group classes. In Innercityoga terms where most classes are all-levels, this translates into taking Ioana's or Patric's classes on a regular base.
That being said, the trainings are not solely for apsiring teachers and if you have a regular yoga practice, you may be more ready than you think. We are looking for our trainees with a solid foundation in the basic and fundamental yoga postures.
Q: I am interested in joining the training. What do you need from me?
A: Besides sending us your application (download your copy here), we do invite you to take a class with us. We will give you an evaluation of how your level of yoga practice and point out the main areas to improve until the training starts. If you cannot take this evaluation class, please provide us with the recommendation of your regular yoga teacher (basic template in the application).
To be accepted into our training programs we need to see your understanding of the basics your response to taking the instructions.
Q: I do not have the possibility to ask my last teacher for his/her recommandation - can you do it for me?
A: Yes, please attend to any of IOANA's or PATRIC's yoga classes. They will analyze your level of practice and give you valuable insight on modifications necessary - as well as write your recommandation.
> consult IOANA's / PATRIC's class schedule and please RSVP prior
Q: I am a beginner and would like to immerse myself into yoga, is this program for me?
If you are new to yoga, this would not be an appropriate program to participate in. You will not benefit from learning yoga basics in an intense yoga training. Please attend the Basics Yoga classes.
Q: Am I qualifying when practicing only twice a week?
A: Please contact Patric or Ioana for this; as there's a daily asana practice, you may want to prepare yourself for it.
Q: I would like to prepare for the physical part of the training and plan to attend more classes. Am I eligible for a discount?
A: Yes, all applicants admitted to the Deep Flow Yoga Teacher Ttraining do benefit from the student rates on all class packages to get physically fit until the training starts. The same for the period between the different segments.
Q: I am looking for an immersion during my vacation, but do not want to take part in all elements. Can I skip them and get a discount?
A: This Yoga Teacher Trainings is aimed at serious students and is not a “Club Med” vacation.
Q: How do I get to know more about yoga before the training starts?
A: When your application is accepted, you will receive a reading list with a number of mandatory books to read, as well as a couple of recommended reads in addition.
Q: How much time should I expect to spend on homework?
A: Expect to spend between 4-8 hours per week on written, and reading assignments. The homework is designed to support the material covered in class and helps you integrate what is presented into your own practice and teaching.
If you are not planning on teaching after this course, you may choose not to complete all of the homework assignments and take the course for non-credit.
However, if you wish to receive your Diploma and Letter of Completion for the course, you must attend all the sessions and complete all the homework assignments per Yoga Alliance.
Q: What is Yoga Alliance?
A: Yoga Alliance is an organization that was started in 1999 as a way to create internationally recognized standards for yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainings. More and more yoga studios across the world are requiring their teachers to register with the Yoga Alliance, either at the 200 or 500-hour level.
After graduating from the training, you are free to register with Yoga Alliance.
Q: What if I miss class?
A: To graduate successfully and obtain a diploma of completion you must attend 100% of the classes to comply with Yoga Alliance requirements. However, we understand that you may not be able to foresee every conflict, so we have devised the following procedures if you must miss a class.
To get the most out of your Teacher Training Program, it is critically important that you attend the first three days of the Program.
Please let your Training Assistant asap know about any possible days missing important information.
Make-up sessions for 1-2 missed days
Schedule a private session with the concerned trainer during the program or before or after the second part of the training. The cost of a private session needs to be paid for separately; the length and number of make-up sessions are to be discussed directly with the trainer concerned.
If you miss up to 4 days
Schedule private sessions with the lead trainer. Because of the vast amount of information covered in 4 days, you will have to make up those days missed in a subsequent training at no extra fee. We cannot grant you the completion of the training unless all missed information is made up.
If you miss 5+ days:
You will need to retake the program, at a discounted price (reg. 50%), subject to space availability.
Q: Will I be qualified to teach yoga once I complete the 200-Hour Teacher Training Program?
A: The decision to teach is a personal one.
Some graduates from the 200-hour training begin teaching professionally immediately, while others take time to fully integrate the material before they begin teaching. You will have learned all the foundational tools to begin teaching, but when to begin is up to you.
Upon successful completion of the program you will receive the diploma and letter of completion. You may also register with the Yoga Alliance at the RYT-200 level (Registered Yoga Teacher 200).
Graduates of the 200-hour program usually begin teaching in small studios, gyms, with private clientele (friends and family), etc. and sub at larger studios.
Q: Are you offering typical INNERCITYOGA amenities like mats, towels etc?
Normal yoga props like mats, blocks, bolsters, straps etc are put at your disposition during the training. However we encourage all attendees to use their own mat as you will probably feel better practicing on it.
A complimentary towel for taking a shower is included in the tuition, extra towels may be rented.
Q: Where does the training take place?
A: Your Training takes place at INNERCITYOGA Genève Yoga Center, in this sense, we can accept only a limited number of applicants.
Q: Will the studio not be too hot during summer?
A: No. INNERCITYOGA has an excellent cooling, respective heating system that will keep you warm during the practice, and cool for the study and workgroups.
Q: Is the INNERCITYOGA® studio reserved exclusively to the Yoga Teacher Training?
A: No. The trainings take place in the same studio space as our regular classes. We kindly ask all trainees to apply common sense and clear out the studio space and the locker rooms during lunchbreak and in the evening. A friendly attitude towards our long-standing members creates a harmonious atmosphere.
