Experience authentic yoga classes with INNERCITYOGA's popular smart sequencing for all levels. INNERCITYOGA is a dynamic yoga studio in Geneva focusing mainly on the postural yoga, also called Hatha Yoga.
THE BASE OF ALL YOGA CLASSES
Each class includes elementary principles as described in sage Patanjali's 2'200 year old writings, the «Yoga Sutras of Patanjali». All classes include postural hatha yoga, linking asana (postures), pranayama (breath control) and dharana (concentration) that will eventually lead to samadhi, the heightened state of meditation resulting in joy and inner peace.
We base the teaching of asana as transmitted by the father of “modern” yoga, T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989), who is widely regarded as one of the most influential yoga teachers of the 20th century and is credited with the revival of Hatha yoga. Hatha Yoga purifies and the transforms the body so it can serve as a reliable vehicle for self-realization.
The roots of all yoga classes at INNERCITYOGA stem from the classical lineages of Krishnamacharya’s direct disciples:
- K. Pathhabi Jois’ Ashtanga Yoga – for the system that we work within
- B.K.S. Iyengar – for the correct and safe alignments
- T.K.V. Desikachar’s Viniyoga – for adapting the yoga asanas to the individual students

Basics classes offer a friendly environment for beginners where you learn the essential yoga postures (asanas) used in any regular yoga class. In Basics classes you will learn how to breathe properly, how to safely align your postures and how to use the different props. Different relaxation techniques complement a well-rounded class. Deep Flow ♫
Deep Flow Yoga is taught by INNERCITYOGA's founder Ioana Pop. She combines the fluid movement of Ashtanga and the precise alignment techniques of the Iyengar style. You will be guided deeply into the postures while respecting your body's limits. Explore the deeper foundations of your body and mind with this intense class. Level: Intermediate
Based on smart Vinyasa sequencing of yoga postures, which open the body towards the final “peak” pose. We also take time in certain postures to build stamina while looking at the correct and safe alignment for different bodies. Level: Intermediate
Please note that Hatha Yoga simply means postural, asana based yoga. A common mistake is addressing Hatha Yoga as a soft, sedentary yogastyle.
Basically, any postural yoga style falls under the common Hatha Yoga term.
Depending on your level of comfort you will be guided from basic postures to more complex ones. Emphasis is placed on breathing during the longer hold of the postures, centering of limbs and aligning the body. Level: Intermediate
Be guided through the many facets of hip opening as well as the strengthening of the muscles holding together the hip joints. Your sedentary, modern lifestyle generates tight hips and often a huge discomfort in your body and may even be responsible for back pain. Level: Intermediate
Power Yoga uses physically challenging sequences as a method of inner transformation. However the asanas practiced are designed simply enough making this transformative yoga practice accessible to every body type. The dynamic, energizing practice is designed to leave the yogi feeling strong and calm. This class tones and lengthens your muscles and you will definitively sweat!
INNERCITYOGA special guest Bryan Kest was one of the first westerners to study Ashtanga Yoga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In 1985 he started to teach his Ashtanga Yoga inspired Poweryoga classes simplifying the complex system and making it available to every body type.
Levels: Intermediate (Sporty Beginners welcome)
The slower variant of the Poweryoga. Soft and strong at the same time using basic, but deep-reaching postures and relaxtion techniques for everyone. The Slow Flow builds up gradually to a full practice. For all Levels
Start your day well with sunrise yoga classes before work with a gentle and mindful flow complemented by a morning meditation. Our sunrise yoga classes are ideal for any busy person, helping clear the mind and energize the body. During summer, Sunrise classes may take place on the large outdoor patio. During colder days, the studio is nicely warmed. For all Levels
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is derived from the more restrictive Ashtanga Yoga which follows a predetermined series of asanas. Vinyasa yoga is more about the flow. The literal translation of Vinyasa means connecting your breath to the movement. You will continously flow from one asana to the next while synchronizing movements and transitions to your breath. Each movement in the series is done on an inhalation or an exhalation. Level: Intermediate
Yin-YANG Flow & Meditation Vinyasa ♫
You will enjoy releasing tensions and opening up your body in a short flowing yang based practice, followed by a long restorative yin yoga practice after a long day. Winding down your body and mind first, followed by one of several guided meditation techniques. Giving back to your body has never been easier. For all Levels
Yin Yoga is the complete opposite of all dynamic yoga styles. There is absolutely no sweat and each posture is held passively for several minutes.
This blissful practice targets the deep tissues as we practice with relaxed muscles, opening the tendons and ligaments and strenghtening the joints. It is a very meditative pratice to restore your energy with softness. Your body will feel on a mini-holiday. For all Levels
Since 2002 INNERCITYOGA’s signature class taught exclusively by studio founder Ioana Pop. This dynamic class prepares your body through a series of core strengthening kriyas, of which some exercises can also be found in the pilates technique, for a playful second half of the class including different arm balances. This class tones and lengthens your muscles, strengthens your back muscles as well as the abdominal region.
Level: Strong Not recommended for pure beginners or during pregnancy!
INNERCITYOGA's signature dynamic yoga class. This class combines elements of the first three ashtanga series, building them into a most effective dynamic sequence with transitions and postural work. You will explore and evolve from basic to complex variations towards the peak pose.

INNERCITYOGA's Prenatal Yoga classes are ideal for active moms-to-be who continue their physical activity during the pregnancy. The emphasis on gentle postures and on breathing exercises helps you relax and continue in the big adventure of parenthood. Level: Prenatal for all trimesters
Return to your yoga routine and rediscover your body while acknowledging the presence of your baby. You may start as of 6 to 8 weeks after delivery - or after your doctor gives you the green light. This postnatal yoga session focuses on taking care of the perineum and reinforcing the core muscles - as well as all the major parts needed as a young mom (think about your back & arms…). While you reconnect with your body, you will also find that inner peace.
